What is Wisely?
Wisely is a guest intelligence and front-of-house platform for restaurants that combines reservations, waitlist and table management (the Host app) with a restaurant-specific customer data platform, marketing automation, and guest sentiment tracking. It is no longer a standalone company: Olo acquired Wisely in November 2021 for roughly $187 million, and the products are now sold as Olo Host (reservations and waitlist) and the Olo Engage suite (Guest Data Platform, Marketing, Sentiment) - getwisely.com is still live but directs buyers to Olo. It is built for US-based multi-location and enterprise brands such as P.F.
Chang's and First Watch, not for independent single-location restaurants. Note that Olo itself was taken private by Thoma Bravo in September 2025 in a ~$2 billion deal.

Wisely pros and cons
Pros
- +Exceptional, fast support - Capterra reviewers repeatedly call customer service 'above and beyond most', with issues resolved 'in less than an hour' (4.8/5 across 11 Capterra reviews).
- +Easy for front-of-house staff to use day to day - reviewers describe it as a 'very simple platform that is easy to use' requiring minimal training.
- +Consolidates guest data across channels with POS integration, and one Capterra reviewer found it 'more cost effective' than OpenTable since there are no per-cover fees.
Cons
- −Limited self-service administration - Capterra reviewers report they cannot change basics like store hours themselves and must contact support.
- −Back-end configuration is unintuitive: reservation availability programming is 'not super intuitive', and the marketing automation side has a 'steep learning curve' for non-specialists (Capterra).
- −Missing table-stakes options for some operators - no way to charge refundable reservation deposits, and 'screen real estate can be a struggle' in the Host app on iPads (Capterra); third-party comparisons also flag that it is US-only and scoped for enterprise chains, with multi-week onboarding.
Top Wisely alternatives
The closest like-for-like: guest data platform plus reservations, waitlist and marketing automation for multi-location groups - and it operates internationally, whereas Wisely is US-only.
Better when you need demand generation - OpenTable's consumer diner network fills empty seats, which Wisely/Olo Host does not offer, at the cost of per-cover fees Wisely avoids.
Better for high-volume casual and walk-in-heavy concepts: waitlist-first workflow that pulls diners directly from Yelp search traffic, with published pricing instead of enterprise sales calls.
Wisely FAQ
How much does Wisely cost?
Wisely (now Olo Host and Olo Engage) does not publish pricing - as of July 2026 you must request a demo from Olo for a custom quote. The vendor advertises 'no third party or per-cover fees' for reservations, and one Capterra reviewer found it cheaper than OpenTable, but expect enterprise-style annual contracts scoped to your location count.
Is Wisely still a standalone product?
No. Olo acquired Wisely in November 2021 for approximately $187 million. The technology lives on as Olo Host (reservations, waitlist, table management) and the Olo Engage suite (Guest Data Platform, Marketing, Sentiment). The getwisely.com site is still online but states 'Wisely is now part of Olo' and routes sales to Olo. Olo itself was acquired by private equity firm Thoma Bravo in September 2025 for about $2 billion.
What is Wisely used for?
Restaurants use it to run reservations and a remote SMS waitlist with machine-learning wait-time quotes, manage tables from an iPad Host app, unify guest data from POS, online ordering and loyalty into one profile, send segmented email/SMS marketing campaigns, and track guest sentiment across review sites. Olo reports the ML wait quotes cut waitlist abandonment by 6-8%.
Who is Wisely best for - can independent restaurants use it?
It is built for US-based multi-location and enterprise brands - customers include P.F. Chang's, First Watch, bartaco and Chuy's - and it is especially compelling for chains already on Olo's ordering platform. Independent or international restaurants are generally better served by SevenRooms, OpenTable, Eat App or Yelp Guest Manager, which offer self-service onboarding and (in some cases) published pricing.
