What is Resy?

Resy is a reservation and table-management platform (ResyOS) owned by American Express since 2019, built for full-service, food-forward restaurants as well as wineries, hotels, and hospitality groups. Its network spans over 20,000 restaurants and venues worldwide with around 60 million registered diners, and unlike OpenTable it charges a flat monthly subscription with no per-cover fees.

In February 2026 American Express announced it is merging Tock into Resy (completing summer 2026), folding Tock's prepaid experiences and 1,200+ wineries into the Resy platform while the Tock app and exploretock.com are sunset. Resy suits restaurants that want predictable software costs plus exposure to Amex cardmember marketing channels.

Resy pros and cons

Pros

  • +Easy to use - reviewers on Capterra (4.5/5, 20 reviews) say the interface is simple for staff to learn and makes tracking reservations straightforward.
  • +The Notify feature is repeatedly called out as the standout: 'easily the best part about this software... truly helps keep our restaurant full' when guests cancel.
  • +Responsive customer support - 'the support team is really quick to respond and they take customer feedback into consideration' (Capterra); Premium plan advertises ~10-second average phone pickup.

Cons

  • −Reviewers report technical glitches, including freezing or crashes during service, and say the Notify feature 'does not work consistently' or fails to actually send notifications.
  • −Smaller consumer discovery network than OpenTable - a reviewer using both noted Resy 'has limited options when compared to Opentable' - and no dedicated Android app is a recurring complaint.
  • −Limited pacing and customization controls: Resy only allows pacing by cover count, and reviewers say some feature requests go unimplemented; booking flows for non-same-day dates are also criticized.

Top Resy alternatives

OpenTable

A much larger consumer marketplace - better when filling seats through diner discovery volume matters more than Resy's flat no-per-cover pricing.

SevenRooms

CRM-first platform (acquired by DoorDash for $1.2B in 2025) focused on direct bookings through the restaurant's own website - better for groups that want to own guest data instead of relying on a marketplace.

Eat App

Far cheaper entry point - a permanent free plan and paid tiers from $49/month - better for small or international restaurants that do not need U.S. marketplace exposure.

Resy FAQ

How much does Resy cost a restaurant?

As of July 2026, Resy's official plans are Platform at $249/month, Essential at $269/month, and Platform 360 or Premium at $399/month. There are no per-cover fees on any plan; prepayments carry a 3% fee on Essential and 2% on Premium, and standard payment processing fees apply separately.

What is Resy used for?

Restaurants use ResyOS for reservations, table management, walk-in waitlists, guest CRM (tags, notes, visit history, spend data), credit card holds and deposits, and ticketed events and experiences. For diners, the Resy app and website are free to use for booking.

What is happening with Resy and Tock?

American Express, which owns Resy, announced on February 24, 2026 that Tock is merging into Resy, with completion expected summer 2026. The Tock app and exploretock.com are being shut down, and Tock's prepaid and tiered experiences, Michelin-starred venues, and more than 1,200 wineries move onto the Resy platform - bringing the combined network to roughly 25,000+ bookable venues.

Who is Resy best for?

Full-service, food-forward, and fine-dining restaurants in Resy's strong metros that want flat, predictable pricing without per-cover fees, plus exposure to American Express cardmember marketing. It is a weaker fit for casual high-volume operators on tight budgets (Eat App or Yelp-style tools are cheaper) or for restaurants that prioritize maximum discovery volume, where OpenTable's larger network wins.
