SevenRooms pros and cons

Pros

  • +Intuitive interface that is fast to train floor staff on - Capterra reviewers: 'User interface is excellent', 'super-easy to train floor staff', 'fast look up for reservations and CRM info' (4.4/5 from 24 reviews)
  • +Depth of guest data ownership - reviewers highlight that it 'puts all the data in the hands of the business', with strong guest preference tracking and automations (Capterra, G2)
  • +Commission-free booking model - G2 reviewers call out retaining more profit versus per-cover marketplaces, plus effective waitlist and table management for seating efficiency

Cons

  • −Price is a recurring complaint - G2 reviewers find it 'expensive and could be more flexible for smaller establishments'; Capterra notes competitors are more popular (better diner discovery) in some cities
  • −Reporting is seen as limited - G2 users want more filtering and better visual formats, and Capterra reviewers found a reporting redesign hard to adjust to
  • −Mobile app and integration friction - Capterra: 'the app is also impossible to use'; G2 mentions Android OS incompatibility and Oracle Micros POS integration issues disrupting service at some outlets

Top SevenRooms alternatives

OpenTable

Largest diner discovery network with transparent published pricing (Basic $149 / Core $299 / Pro $499 per month + $1 network cover fee, per third-party roundups as of July 2026) - better when you need marketplace traffic to fill seats rather than a CRM for guests you already have.

Resy

Flat-fee subscription with explicitly no per-cover fees (confirmed on resy.com/resyos) and an Amex-backed diner network - better for trendy/upscale US restaurants wanting predictable costs and discovery among premium diners.

Tock

Built around prepaid, ticketed reservations and deposits (plans reported from ~$79 to ~$769/month depending on prepayment fee structure, as of July 2026) - better for tasting menus, wineries and experience-driven venues where killing no-shows via prepayment matters most.

What is SevenRooms used for?

Restaurants use it to run reservations, waitlist and table management while building a guest CRM (preferences, visit history, spend) that feeds automated email/SMS marketing, reputation management and ticketed events - the goal is direct, commission-free bookings and more repeat visits rather than paying per-cover marketplace fees.

What are the best SevenRooms alternatives?

OpenTable if you need the biggest diner discovery network and published pricing ($149-$499/mo tiers); Resy if you want a flat fee with no per-cover charges and Amex's premium diner audience; Tock if prepaid/ticketed reservations for tasting menus or events are your priority. G2 also lists Eat App and Yelp Guest Manager as frequent comparisons.

Who is SevenRooms best for?

Premium full-service restaurants, multi-venue groups, hotels' F&B and nightlife operators that already have demand and want to own guest data and drive retention - it serves 15,000+ restaurants 'from local favorites to Michelin stars'. Reviewers say smaller, budget-sensitive single venues often find it expensive relative to simpler booking tools.
